The Beginning:
Babur (1483-1530)
The founder of the Mughal dynasty was Babur, "The Tiger," who ruled from 1483 to 1530. Babur was not fully a Mongol: his mother was descended from Genghis Khan (13th direct descendant), but his father was descended from Timur (5th generation descendant).
1504 - He captured Kabul (Afghnistan)
1526 - First Battle Of Panipat - Defeated Sultan Ibrahim Lodi who had 100,000 men and 100 elephants with just 12,000 men. The battle was fought on April 21st in Panipat (present day haryana). The battle marked the foundation of the Mughal Empire in India.
1527 - The Battle of Khanua - Second major mughal victory. Babur defeated Rana Sanga (rajput, ruler of Mewar) at khanua 60 km west of Agra on March 17.
1529 - Battle of Ghaghra - Third major Mughal Victory over Afghan chiefs under Mahmud Lodhi and the sultan of Bengal. Fought near Varanasi on May 6th.
Babur died at Agra on December 26, 1530
